City Cemeteries

The City of Camilla oversees the operation of two city owned cemeteries.

Sunset Historical Cemetery

According to available historical records and markers, this cemetery was established in the late 1800s and the oldest grave is dated in 1871. Originally named Sunset Cemetery, the cemetery was restored beginning in 1993 and renamed Sunset Historical Cemetery. It is the final resting place for some of Mitchell County’s pioneer citizens and listed on the Georgia Landmark and Historic Tree Register. Burial plots are not available for purchase in this cemetery.

The business office for city cemeteries is located at City Hall - 30 East Broad Street. Office hours are 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.,  Monday through Friday.
