CAMILLA - YOUR COMMUNITY

camilla welcomes you
Camilla offers a lifestyle of comfort and convenience and a community rich in beauty and history. We pride ourselves on being the home place of southern hospitality with a special blend of modern progress and economic development.

Mitchell County is named for General Henry Mitchell of Hancock County, a great leader in the movement for independence during the Revolutionary War. Camilla serves as the county seat of Mitchell County and was named for General Mitchell's 19 year-old granddaughter, Camilla Mitchell.

Located on Georgia State Highway 19, Camilla is convenient to Northern Florida, Southern Alabama and Interstate 75. We are the center of one of the most efficient, irrigated agricultural production systems in the world. Crops such as peanuts, pecans, and cotton are grown in the fertile fields surrounding Camilla. Most of these crops are processed locally, providing employment to residents and profit to area businesses.

In Camilla you will find diverse shopping options with friendly merchants, family-run businesses, and restaurants serving a variety of southern cuisine. Spend your day browsing in the quaint downtown shops in historic downtown Camilla or at some of the most beautiful quail hunting plantations in the South. Our City is also known for its’ special events such as the Mitchell County Pro Tennis Invitational in April, Gnat Days Festival in May, the Downtown Southern Sip ‘n See in July, Scarecrow Contest in October, and the Annual Christmas Parade in December.

We invite you to visit our beautiful city and see what we have to offer.
