The Camilla Fire Department protects a community of 5,600 citizens and employs 18 firefighters. The department, housed at one fire station, is equipped with 2 engines and a ladder truck and provides fire protection, rescue, and medical first response to the community. Certified by the Georgia Firefighters Standards and Training Council, the department is manned 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.



MISSION
The mission of the Fire Department is to prevent and minimize the loss of life and property from fire, natural, and man-made emergencies. Departmental personnel strive to improve the quality of life through public education and prevention of fire and provide a fire suppression force capable of handling emergencies, which may include structural fire fighting, pre-hospital medical assistance, and response to hazardous materials incidents.


Working together the personnel of the department provide a professional and caring environment that is fair, honest, ethical, and treats all individuals with respect and dignity. The department is a progressive, service-oriented organization striving to provide innovative and effective leadership. Departmental personnel support and respond to the needs of the citizens in a loyal, ethical and professional manner.


ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
The Fire Department provides fire suppression, fire inspection, fire prevention education, and emergency medical, technical rescue, and hazardous materials response services for the citizens of Camilla and other areas of our region when requested. Fire Department divisions include: Fire Department Line Personnel (Emergency Response Personnel) – the Fire Department Line Personnel are responsible for responding to fires and other emergencies, including medical rescue, hazardous materials or conditions, and false alarms. Line personnel cover three shifts, thereby providing uninterrupted 24-hour service. Line personnel are divided into two companies, with companies located in the center of town to ensure a quick response to emergencies. The department operates one engine company and one truck company.

Responders control, contain, salvage, mitigate, and coordinate relief efforts through effective use of a wide variety of equipment, personal skills, training, and experience.
