The Water and Sewer Department provides a full range of services to include drinking water, wastewater treatment, and stormwater control for approximately 7,500 customers. This department is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the water distribution system, wastewater treatment plant, and stormwater collection as well as all fire hydrants and water meters on the system. Equipped with a knowledgeable staff, we are dedicated to providing our customers reliable service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

When you turn on the faucet you expect clean tap water on demand. The water system maintains an adequate supply of water provided through a system of 5 deep wells and 2.5 million gallons of storage. Our underground water is drawn from 5 wells within the Floridian Aquifer and exceeds EPA water quality requirements. Through constant monitoring and lab analysis, we ensure our customers are consuming the safest and highest quality drinking water available. Departmental employees make sure you have clean, quality water and continually strive to deliver cost-effective services to meet your expectations for reliability and quality. The latest Water Quality Report is available here.

The Camilla Wastewater System collects approximately 1 million gallons of wastewater each day and has more than 75 miles of sewer infrastructure for transport and delivery to the treatment plant. The wastewater treatment plant was recently upgraded with a new 1.5 million gallon per day treatment facility and utilizes a sprayfield for the recycling of wastewater. This facility has the capacity to treat 1.5 million gallons/day and currently is treating 800,000 gallons/day.

Normal hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Staff can be contacted at (229) 336-2213.
