AUGUST 21, 2023 - EARLIEST DAY TO APPLY FOR ABSENTEE BALLOT
To vote by absentee ballot, you must first submit an absentee ballot application. You can do this via email, mail, fax, or in person.

OCTOBER 10, 2023 - DEADLINE FOR VOTER REGISTRATION/CHANGE OF ADDRESS
Contact the Mitchell County Board of Elections and Registration at 336-2018 or visit their office at 32 N. Court Street to register to vote or if you have a change of address. To visit their webpage click here.
OCTOBER 16, 2023 - EARLY VOTING BEGINS - LOCATION: CITY HALL LOBBY - 9 AM TO 5 PM
Citizens are encouraged to take advantage of early voting by visiting City Hall from October 16th through November 3rd. Voting will take place in the front lobby of City Hall and handicap access is provided at the side entrance (Underwood Street) of City Hall. Hours of early voting: 9 A.M. until 5 P.M. daily. Information on Saturday and Sunday voting is provided below.
OCTOBER 16, 2023 - ABSENTEE BALLOTS MAILED
Absentee ballots for verified and approved voters submitting an application will start being mailed on October 16th.
OCTOBER 21, 2023 - SATURDAY VOTING
Polls will be open from 9:00 A.M. until 5:00 P.M. Voting will be at City Hall.
OCTOBER 22, 2023 - SUNDAY VOTING (to be determined)
OCTOBER 27, 2023 - DEADLINE TO SUBMIT ABSENTEE BALLOT APPLICATION
Voters interested in voting an absentee ballot must return their completed application by this date.
OCTOBER 28, 2023 - SATURDAY VOTING
Polls will be open from 9:00 A.M. until 5:00 P.M. Voting will be at City Hall.
OCTOBER 29, 2023 - OPTIONAL SUNDAY VOTING (to be determined)
NOVEMBER 3, 2023 - EARLY VOTING ENDS AT 5 PM
Last day to early vote before election day.

REGISTERING TO VOTE
To register to vote you must:
Be a citizen of Georgia and of the United States
Must reside at the address shown on the voter registration application
Be at least 17.5 years of age to register and 18 years of age to vote
Must be eligible to vote in Georgia
Not be serving a sentence for conviction of a felony involving moral turpitude
Have not been found mentally incompetent by a judge

Citizens living in Georgia have access to several methods of registering to vote:

You may register to vote by visiting the Mitchell County Registrar's Office located at 32 N. Court Street, P.O. Box 1009, Camilla, GA 31730.

Download, complete, and mail a voter registration application. Providing false information on a voter registration application is a felony.

Registration is offered when you renew or apply for your driver's license at the Department of Motor Vehicle safety driver's license posts.

College students can obtain Georgia voter registration forms or the necessary forms to register in any state in the United States from their schools registrar's office or from the office of the Vice President of Academic Affairs.

VOTER IDENTIFICATION
If you are registering for the first time in Georgia and register by mail you are required to provide your identification by one of the following ways:

Mail a copy of the identification with your voter registration application.

Provide a copy of the identification to the registrar before or at the time you cast your ballot.
Acceptable types of identification: - Valid Georgia driver's license
- Valid photo ID card issued by any entity of the State of Georgia, any other state, or the United States
- Valid U.S. passport
- Government employee photo ID
- Valid U.S. military ID card with photo
- Valid Tribal ID with photo
- Current utility bill showing name and address*
- Valid government check or paycheck showing name and address*
- Valid government document showing name and address*
- Current bank statement*
*Please note the above identification may only be used one time by the first time registered voter. Voting in person after that requires photo identification.
CHANGE OF RESIDENCE
Voters are required to notify the board of registrars of their county of residence whenever they move.

If you move within the same county in which you are registered to vote and don't notify the registrar at least 30 days prior to an election, you may vote in your old polling place for that election. You must file a notice of your new address. This can be done by writing to your County Board of Registrars' Office or by submitting a new voter registration application.

If you move outside the county in which you are registered to vote within 30 days of an election, you may vote in your old precinct for that election.

If you move outside the county in which you are registered to vote in excess of 30 days prior to an election, you have lost your eligibility to vote in the county of your old residence. You must register to vote in your new county of residence. You will be assigned a new voting precinct and polling location. Remember, if you don't register to vote by the deadline, you cannot vote in that particular election.
